County Workplace Smoking Ban Moves Forward
A proposal that would create a smoking ban in La Crosse County workplaces is moving forward.
La Crosse County’s Health and Human Services Board approved a resolution Tuesday night which would ban smoking in La Crosse County workplaces.
That ban would apply to all businesses in unincorporated regions of the county.
Supporters of the ban say it’s the right thing to do for those working in smoking environments, and for the county as a whole.
“Often those employers don’t pay their health insurance costs so they get sick from the second hand smoke and they have no way of paying for their healthcare so eventually they end up using taxpayer dollars,” said Sharon Hampson, chair of the Health and Human Services Board.
