Easy way to stop smoking

smoking circles Julian A. Leicester a.k.a. The Cigarette Slayer tells ERROL DE CRUZ what it takes to get rid of the habit.

TALK to Julian A. Leicester and you will immediately sense his passion to help smokers quit the habit.

He is always full of energy and he has numerous ways to curb smoking. No wonder he has been often dubbed “The Cigarette Slayer” in the media.

For many years, Leicester has been teaching smokers and schoolchildren how to quit the habit with his clinical interventions, national seminars, talks and newspaper articles.

His latest book, S2QS: The Science To Quit Smoking, will be launched in early February.
This is the world’s first pleasure-based technique to quit smoking and it leverages on positioning and creating a new mindset and will to quit smoking.

“You are not a smoker even if you have smoked all your life,” Leicester said adamantly.

“The term ‘smoker’ is a sales and marketing ploy.

“A person is only smoking the cigarette. It is an action. They are still themselves. How did they acquire their nickname ‘smoker’?

“When people who smoke start to take charge and become aware that they are actually separate from the cigarette, then in their mind it becomes a first step to rid themselves of the habit.

In your subconscious, there is no destination to be a non-smoker, he said.

Why do smokers find it difficult to make that journey to be a non-smoker?

It is simply because the subconscious knows that internally, the term “smoker” is just a descriptive word.

“Smoking is the process and action of lighting a cigarette,” he said.

“To strive towards an objective to be a non-smoker is a waste of time to the subconscious mind.”

Focusing on a new healthy mission and lifestyle has more intensity and clearer objectives.

“The words ‘Don’t Smoke’ actually stimulate a craving to smoke,” he insists.

“Tell a child not to touch the TV and he will. Tell someone not to think of the colour blue and they will.

“So telling yourself ‘don’t smoke’ actually fires more desire to light up. Whether you say don’t, won’t, can’t, try or reduce smoking, it is still talking about the problem.

“What you must do is be solution-oriented and focus on what is really the source of breakdown, which is your commitment for a high health standard,” he pointed out.

Will every smoker quit someday?

“I believe every human being operates on a focus desire. Cigarettes have certain meaning and associations.

“Taking the first step to understand who they are to their cigarettes will free their openness to seek help to rid the habit.

“The influence of the subconscious mind is strong. It does not know a good habit from a bad but it works with strong intent to enforce it. Becoming aware of what those dried leaves wrapped in paper and the costly control it has on you is a must to rid you of the habit.”
