Fans watching Porto’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk got a surprise when it dawned on them who was behind the commentary.
It appears that some football fans were not aware that legendary commentator Martin Tyler, who left Sky Sports after 33 years at the end of last season, has not retired.
Social media was awash with amazement when viewers realised that Tyler was the voice of the match coverage for TNT Sports.
‘Wait, what, Martin Tyler works for TNT Sport now,’ one fan wrote on X.
‘Am I having a fever dream or is Martin Tyler actually doing commentary on TNT Sports,’ a second added.

‘Since when has Martin Tyler done commentary for TNT?’ A third fan wrote.
Tyler has no immediate desire to retire and hang up the microphone and has now been keeping him busy with other jobs away from Sky.
But not everyone was left impressed to see Taylor, who was widely viewed as the voice of the Premier League while at Sky, reduced to a low-key Champions League outing.
One disappointed viewer wrote: ‘Martin Tyler on commentary for a game that absolutely no one will watch in MD6 of the Champions League is sad to see (hear).
Another added: ‘Martin Tyler relegated to Porto vs Shaktar [sic], what happened to the beautiful game?’
Tyler’s pedigree speaks for itself having been the lead commentator on Sky Sports’ flagship weekend show, Super Sunday, prior to his departure.
He also featured prominently as well on other programmes – covering global events such as the Champions League, World Cup and European Championships for broadcasters in the US and Australia.

While his latest commentary may not have caught the eye on paper, it was a match full of drama.
During the first half of the Group H game in Portugal, Porto led thanks to a Galeno opener in the ninth minute before Shakhtar controversially equalised in rather bizarre circumstances.
With Porto defending, Shakhtar’s Oleksandr Zubkov is found with a long ball after making a darting run down the right wing, leaving him with a man to beat to get a sight at goal.
However, as Zubkov dribbles at his defender, footage shows the linesman raising his flag for offside with many of the Porto players slowing down as a result, but referee Istvan Kovacs waves play on.
The confusion then allows Zubkov to dart into the box uncontested, square the ball across the face of goal for Danylo Sikan to tap the ball into the net for an equaliser.
