Cigarette Smoking is Dangerous to Your Health

In keeping with the health principles behind our health and wellness products, we consistently try to increase awareness that cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health! Smoking shortens your life span and steeply increases your chances of getting cancer. Despite consistent warnings on the dangers of smoking, we still see cigarette brands aggressively advertised on TV and more people buying into the glamorized image of cigarettes.

New Findings On The Consequences Of Smoking

smokingResearchers at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine in Baltimore led by Dr. John Cole discovered that young female smokers have a higher risk of being affected by a stroke.

Their discovery was published in the August 15 issue of the journal “Stroke.”

Generally speaking the risk of having a stroke becomes double if someone smokes. Cole interviewed 466 women aged between 15 and 49 who had had a stroke and 604 women who hadn’t. They were smokers, former smokers or non-smokers.

While trends in cigarette smoking and sales have declined in the U.S. for the past decade, sales of non-cigarette tobacco products have been on the rise. Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health, led by Professor Greg Connolly, director of the Tobacco Control Research Program at HSPH, and Hillel Alpert, research associate in the program, sought to compare trends in sales of all tobacco products in the U.S. and found that 30% of the recent decline in cigarette sales may be offset by the robust sale of small cigars, snuff and roll-your-own products.
